MAXILLOMANDIBULAR OSTEOTOMY
Candidates for the maxillomandibular osteotomy procedure exhibit an incongruent relationship between the maxilla and mandible. Therefore, osteotomies of the maxilla and mandible are required in order to improve the dental occlusion, facial esthetics and airway dimension.
The procedure is performed intraorally and is usually 4-5 hours long. A 1-2 day hospitalization may be required. A liquid diet is required for 3 weeks and patients usually return to work in 3-4 weeks.
